BAMCafe Live - BOOgie Down Halloween Party
BAMcafĂ© Live gets spooky at this Halloween dance party hosted by singer- songwriter Everett Bradley (aka Papadelic), who performs with Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, among other groups. DJ Reborn moves the crowd with her signature blend of soul, hip-hop, reggae, house, Latin, electronic, and Afrobeat and BAMcafĂ© Live’s own DJ Idlemind will open and close the night. The party goes until 2am and costumes are encouraged! This is a 21+ event.

9/11 Memorial Mass
Battalion 57 of Brooklyn will celebrate a Memorial Mass at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph located in Prospect Heights. The men, women and families of FDNY will meet at 11AM at St. Joseph, and will be lead by a possession of color guards.

As African American and Latino communities continue to be disproportionately impacted by HIV/AIDS, AHF expands its ‘AIDS is a Civil Rights Issue’ billboard & awareness campaign featuring MLK Jr. to also include Cesar Chavez, the labor leader and farm worker movement icon — Campaign suggests access to HIV prevention, care and treatment for HIV/AIDS should be universal.

Flicks on the Beach
This summer we will be turning the Coney Island beach into an outdoor movie theater in order to bring you some of your favorite movies. The best part: it’s all free and open to the public!
Presented in partnership with the Alliance for Coney Island, NYC & Company, Good Humor Ice Cream and I Love NY, Flicks on the Beach kicks off on Monday June 30th, screening a beloved movie every week for eight consecutive weeks. The theater will be set up on the Coney Island beach between West 10th and West 12th Streets.
Each week there will be live entertainment at 7:30pm, followed by a film screening at dusk. Some shows will include performances by the legendary Coney Island Circus Sideshow.

• July 14th: E.T. The Extraterrestrial
• July 21st: Iron Man 3
• July 28th: The Lego Movie
• August 4th: American Hustle

The Death of Bessie Smith
New Brooklyn Theater is proud to announce its site-specific production of Edward Albee’s The Death of Bessie Smith at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn. This rare revival will run for eight performances between January 9 and 19, 2014. Each performance will be followed by talkbacks or panel discussions with leaders in the arts, government, labor, and health. These discussions are intended to raise critical questions about health access, race, class, and the arts in New York.

Dr. Martin Luther King Commission
The Central Brooklyn Martin Luther King Commission was founded in 1985 when Congressman Major R. Owens called together members of his Congressional District with the challenge to promote improved education and youth development in the spirit of peace and nonviolence as lived, taught and exemplified by Dr. Martin Luther King. MLK Committee members were drawn from a cross-section of the community including parents, educators, youth advocates, citywide and community representatives and leaders in private industry.

Christmas Mass
